Write a one-page reflection (double-spaced) on what you did this week (5/2) at your internship. It needs to be creative and interesting for teachers and mentors to read. We do not want to know how long you sat at a desk or what you ate
for lunch.

last wednesday at my wle, i started the new project that im working on. after i arrived to work, i swept, and straightened, and ate of course. but thats not the exciting part. =] i am making a dress for a model of mine that will be there to display this outfit during my final project. i started on it last wednesday. after choosing very flowing patterns, and mixmatching colors in a way that i deem interesting. time went very fast on wednesday, and i was sad to leave, because i enjoy my time there very much. the outfit is on hold at this moment, and will be continued next wednesday.

Last wednesday, our entor cae and told us how to make our PowerPoint more profesional, how to describe more in detail the overview (that sounds awkward) of where the customer has to go through the web site and how it would be in contact with the product. After improving our PowerPoint, we were a little bit bored and we have found a new game "the cupball" and we have funded the "Cupball International Ligue"
We spent the all day working on our Powerpoint, and ho to present Personiva to the public.
Honestly nothing exciting happens. When people think of working at a theatre they think of the fast life. Me surrounded by outgoing and scandalous actors, chorographers, bossy agents, pretty costumes, and much more drama that is thought to be associated with the theater industry. But that’s not how it is at all the actors are down to earth and that when I here them over the phone I never really see them even though my office is 2 feet away from the stage.
Honestly the only exciting thing that ever happened was the Concierge Night we hosted last month at the theatre to raise awareness of the upcoming play Jesus Hopped the A Train. It was the first night the theatre had ever held something like that. The objective was to get concierges from various hotels throughout the city t o come and see a complementry performance and if they enjoyed themselves tell everyone they know and most important tell their guest since the majority of theatre goers from out of the city visiting. It was refreshing and a little fun. We set a little food and wine and had everyone mingle and talk before. If the was anything I knew and enjoyed more it was people and parties I helped Tara a lot in that department.
Well I guess that was fun. But not at all exciting likes my peers. I bet they have better stories.

At his weeks internship we had fun the kids where looking at the camera and they where playing and dancing in front of the camera. We didn’t really get a lot of time to play with them mostly because we had to make them their project. The project was really fun to watch them draw and what they said and did. I also read them a story and they seemed to like it and they paid lots of attention to me when I did read it. Then me and Sheryl where talking to our mentors about the things we need to do and info we need to have for our exhibition.
weeell, i didnt do tat much.
i was suposed to be working on my final project, but i couldnt, because i need low rpm motor, and we ordered this motor 2 and a half weeks ago from this catalog that says that they do 1 week delivery in the states, but they lied.
and mr.koh came for a visit, just like a quick come in take a look and bounce thing, it was short, 15 minutes.
after mr. koh left, i tried to because i had no work to do, but my mentor told me to just estimae how big the rest of evrything in my prject had to be and build it that way but i said ide just wait, and do the fine tuning of the rest of the machine that im making. and to do that i neede a couple parts.
so i walked from 18th &Church, to 26th &Mission. i had a couple little adventures along the way, there was this middle school kid who thought that he was the sickest guy walking down the block, and he knocked into me( i saw it coming cause he had done that to a couple kids infron of me) so i braced for it and when he knocked into me he almost fell, and i thought it was really funny cause he got really really really mad about it and wanted to fight an all kinds of stuff, then i told him that i was in 11th grade, and he tried to play it off like he was just playing around.
then i finally got to discount hardware got my stuff, watched this guy juggle a sink, and and walked back to mission highschool and finished my work and went home.
and thats about it.

Isabel-
Last time I was at my WLE i did one thing the whole time. Every year my WLE makes and sends out this survey to all its members just asking them simple questions like what would you like OFC to do more? would you or have you volunteered for an event of OFC's? what's your sexual orientation? and if you have kids how did you obtain them (sperm bank, previous marriage, invitro...)? I was the one to make this survey this year. It was about 40 questions long and i made it on surveymonkey. I personally am really proud of it because it came out really nicely. I had a doctors appointment that day so thats all I did and I left early.

My Internship on Wed. May 2nd……..
This Wednesday after being absent for two days I was ready to work on my project. I arrived to the office 10 minutes early. When I arrived my mentor was not there but luckily she arrived later. On Monday of that week I went to the office to present a PowerPoint to the Envision Board of education on our trip to Nicaragua. That day I had planned to work a little bit on my project but someone took the computer were I had my stuff so the computer just got lost with all stuff, but I had everything saved on my flash drive!. So I decided to just wait until Wednesday. Wednesday it is I am sitting on my desk taking out my flash drive as responsible as I am to start working and get done as much as I could. I plugged in the flash drive open the file and what happens??? There was an error file was not able to open!!! I know not good. Everything I’ve worked on was gone. Sad I told my mentor and she was like so what are you going to do now? And I answer I have to start all over again. Then she said I feel bad for you. This day all I did was trying to remember how I design my first page and try to re-create on this new one, the ugly part of it was that I didn’t really remember so I just did a king of different one. That day I also didn’t get much opportunity to talk to my mentor since she was busy in the meeting room planning some stuff that I don’t know. I think she saw me king of frustrated and she had me do last minute Development packages. So I did that was the last thing I did that day development packages. Also the day went by really slow and as most of the time the office was really empty and quiet.
Argent,
I wasn’t here on this day, because I was out of country. But I guess I can recall another time I worked in my WLE. I don’t know when this happened but I arrived at my WLE really early, like 7 AM. The site supervisor let me rest on their couch in the staff lounge for about an hour, because none of the teachers, kids, and only the front desk person and the food lady was there. So I awoke at around 8 to a teacher’s son making noise. The boy looked familiar, but I didn’t know his name.
“Hey there I’m Argent.” I said coolly.
The boy stared either in shock or awe at my handsome face.
”Tell him your name, M,” said the boys mother.
He just stared and went back to his mom.
Just then the site supervisor told me to help her clean out the staff lounge. Which was filled with an old shelf, large plastic bottles of paint and “goop” solution, and of course the random knick-knacks that just seems to be land mined all over the room. We moved the couch and all the things she didn’t want to one side of the room within 2 hours. It was not a great way to start the day to my WLE. But I didn’t have anything better to do, there was only a little bit of kids currently, she told me. I deduced that I would probably get it in the way of the teachers in the room is what she was telling me. I didn’t mind, as long as I was doing something of help. After we got everything to be thrown away, I was sent to a room and had just begun building a doomed block city with the 2-year-old Vladimir, when my phone began to vibrate loudly. An older girl Serena, managed to hear the phone’s vibration and smiled while saying, “What’s that noise?”
”Nothing.” I replied.
“Nothing doesn’t make a noise.”
Jesus Christ I thought. Did she just out smart me? But I had to read the message inside. So I just told the teacher that I had to use the rest room. The message turns out to be none other than Mr. Koh, who wanted to know what would be a great time to visit me at my WLE. We exchanged times, over and over again, until we came up with around 2 I believe. When the kids would be just waking up. But of course something goes wrong, and we put them to bed later than I expected which was close to 1 PM instead of the usual 12 noon. Which affected my lunch break, which was around 1:45, because I eat when the kids are asleep. So I go out for my break and as soon as I arrived at the Thai restaurant across the street I realized I have to meet Mr. Koh over there in around 15 minutes. As soon as I received this soup I bought I began shoving as much hot food into my mouth as possible to meet the time specified. But alas, when I finished my soup it was too late. I would be I had missed the time. So I rush over there and meet Koh talking with my mentor, just about to leave. He basically explained stuff about the final project and was on his way. I went backed to the classroom to see who was up and rap up this day.

On 5/2 I pretty much did the same thing as last week because I was with the same group. So we first went to the YMCA and watered the different plants. It was pretty hot this time and we had to weed all the ones that were getting ugly. So after we weeded everything we put all our tools away and went down to walk to POH for our free lunch. The place was super packed when we got there but they had some good food that day. After we finished up our dessert we went to start our work. We had to open all the gusher boxes and then dump them into the bigger banana boxes. This wasn’t very fun because we had to do it for almost 2 hours I think or less I don’t remember. But it wasn’t fun and it really hurt my hands because I had to break down all the boxes. But all in all you feel really good that your helping people all over he city to have good food.

Nothing exciting happened at my internship on May 2. For the last few weeks it’s been almost the same routine every Wednesday. In the morning I arrived at my internship and began working on my final project. Luckily, I was able to use another computer today so I didn’t have to be annoyed with the computer that dislikes me, well actually all the interns, or at least Christine and I. Anyways I worked on my project for a while, and I think that I made some good progress, but I think that I’m moving too slow, and I need to hurry up the process more. I also field the subpoenas for a little while, which is a new thing that they’re doing to make the process easier for the attorneys. And for the rest of the day I was working up stairs in the record room with Saras. This time we actually finished boxing all the files that were going to storage, and we began fixing the rest of the files in the correct number order by using the court number. Overall it was a good day and I was actually looking forward for the next week because Saras told us that she was taking us out for lunch. Saras is one of the people who manage the record room, and I really like working with her she’s really nice and she always tells us how to do the things correctly. But, what I really like the most is that she’s always really excited to see us and I can tell that she really appreciates our help because it makes a huge difference for them. Also, because we are there to help, they have time to do other more important things like the calendar and things like that. Something I like about the record room is the thing in which the files are located, its like these cabinets that you can open one at a time by turning this thing, and it puts the rest of the cabinets together, its kind of weird and I don’t really know how to explain it. But, I think that it would be very scary if someone was trying to open one by closing another and someone might be in their. That’s why you have to be very careful when you’re doing it, but it isn’t a really big deal, that was just my first impression of it.

This week 5/2 was the day right after the march on may 1. So I got to the school at usual wich is around 8:30 so that my sister could catch the school bus and from there I just wait the whole hour inside the school because its to cold to be outside. The girls from the class always come and sit witgh me while they eat their breakfast. We go over the calender the weather and the temperature outside. Then we worked on the math booklets that they had that helps them out in ways to make multiplying easier for them and how to add fractions and more math stuff. Then I took one of the six tables so that I could help them with their reading it was kind of hard because the kids were still really excited about the march that they went to the day before. But I got them under control and we were able to finish the pages we had to do. We then went to eat lunch. we went back in and they worked on their Ant books so that the coul finish it. Most of them finished but there were a few that didn't so they had to finish them later on in the week. Thats what I did in my WLE last week.

I had felt really sick the night before and didn’t want to be there honestly. But I did get a ride from my moms, which is better than hating the world on the 28. I showed up in the morning and at the woodshop and saw that neither of my mentors was there yet. I pretended not to look like I had no idea what to do, but apparently some of the workers caught on and then assigned me dirty work. Because I was trained on the cold saw last week, they knew I could handle small jobs pertaining to that.
I spent a little while cutting out aluminum hinges until Rebecca and Anders walked in together. When they got there they assigned me to the orbital sander to use on these newly vinyl-ed doors for the Exploratorium. I went through the 180 the 120 and the 220 papers and then hit it up with ‘the good stuff’ this gummy refurbishing goop.
After that I knew I couldn’t make it, I was feeling like crap. That’s when Koh called to arrange a camera session. After that was over I was kind of glad. Thanks for the tea, though. I took the 43 over to forest hill and then the crazy ass 36. And slept and slept.
This week I arrived at my WLE at the usual time, punctual as always and immeadiatly went to work on putting together about 35 press kits. press kits are these pamphlets that are filled with all sorts of information about Donors Choose and its potential. they are passed out to people who want to learn more about the organization or want to bring them somewhere else to pass them out. they take a little while to fully assemble. once i was finished with the press kits, i was asked to put together feedback packages. feedback packages are packages that contain feedback from happy teachers, if someone wants to know about the effectiveness of D.C., they just grab one of these babies and learn about D.C.'s impact. after that i was asked to assemble envelopes to send to schools, i filled them with press kits and hand addressed them to the various schools. that pretty much sums up my experiences this week at my WLE
